The last batch of application papers for extending the current modified-risk tobacco product (MRTP) orders for Swedish Match U.S.A.'s General Snus products was made available by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The organization set a deadline for public feedback. By July 5, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. EDT, the applications must be uploaded to the docket in order for FDA to review them.
The FDA website has the application documents, which have been redacted in compliance with relevant laws. According to a statement, "FDA considers all available information, including public feedback and suggestions from the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee (TPSAC), before making a final determination on an MRTP application."
On June 26, 2024, the FDA has planned a TPSAC meeting to review these renewal applications. The public is welcome to participate electronically or in person at the FDA White Oak Campus. On matters that are still before the committee, interested parties may provide facts, information, or opinions verbally or in writing.
