A website has been established by two non-profit organizations that support vapers and nicotine users in an effort to organize resistance to the British government's newly proposed vape tax. The advocacy organization the New Nicotine Alliance (NNA) and the vaping news aggregator vapers.org.uk collaborated to create the website NoVapeTax.UK.
All vape items that include e-liquid would become more expensive as a result of the proposed tax, including shortfalls and other products with no nicotine. It will encourage more people who were vaping to pick up smoking and boost the existing sizable illegal markets for tobacco and vapes. The plan is described as "highly damaging and ill-thought-out" by the NNA.

Advocates for vaping are particularly concerned about the complacency of British vapors who have not encountered many significant legal or regulatory obstacles in the last several years. It's ironic that after ten years of usually supporting vaping, government health authorities and elected officials are suddenly working against harm reduction activists who are attempting to mobilize swift, widespread opposition to the tax plan of the Sunak administration and other anti-vaping initiatives.
It's easy to raise awareness of the proposed tax by encouraging people to write their MPs expressing opposition and participate in the government's public consultation, which runs until May 29. You can also share the NoVapeTax.uk website with friends who vape and on social media.
The website provides instructions on how to respond to the consultation as well as a list of recommended talking topics. Along with a succinct (100 words or less) narrative from vapers outlining how the tax would impact them, it also has a great description of how the tax will operate.
Donations made to the NNA GoFundMe page are used to support the NoVapeTax campaign and website. Volunteers manage both vapers.org.uk and the NNA, which are non-profit organizations.
